With 35 years of dedicated service in Washtenaw County, my dedication to serving the community has only grown stronger. â€‹â€‹

Throughout my tenure in the public sector of Washtenaw County, I have served in various departments, including Parks and Recreation, Human Resources, and County Administration. My expertise encompasses responsibilities of independent authority, diverse administrative skills, staff management, and oversight of program finances.

I manage multiple revenue streams and have demonstrated my capacity to effectively oversee, guide, and ensure the seamless execution of projects and programs in compliance with state-funded resources. Additionally, I have led the initiation of initiatives that have established platforms, policies, and programs dedicated to advancing "Good Government." Presently, I hold the position Division Administrator for the Washtenaw County Public Defender's Office, managing the Special Project and Systems Outreach Division.

Latitia and Tanya Garost, GFOA President-Elect

My educational and professional development roots are firmly planted in Washtenaw County. I am a proud alumna of Ypsilanti Public Schools, holding degrees from Ypsilanti High School (Go Braves!), Washtenaw Community College, and Eastern Michigan University (Go Eagles!). Although,  I was never a student, I maintain strong ties to the University of Michigan (Go Blue!).

My professional growth as a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) allows me to stay informed on Treasury and Investment Management Best Practices, which are directly relevant to the role of Treasurer.

My community engagement allows me to contribute my expertise in areas that interact with the community. I serve on the Neutral Zone Board of Directors and lead the Human Resources Committee. I am also a Trustee and the Chair of the Scholarship Ministry at the Second Baptist Church of Ypsilanti. In addition, I co-host "Truth to Power," a community radio show on WHPR TV 33, and hold active memberships in the Washtenaw County Democratic Party, the NAACP - Ann Arbor Branch, and the Washtenaw County Black Caucus.

Let's make HERstory! As a candidate for Washtenaw County Treasurer, I am poised to become the first African American woman in this position. My pledge is to uphold decency and respect for everyone while delivering effective governance. â€‹

A Treasurer for the People is my goal as I continue to support the foreclosure prevention initiatives established by outgoing Treasurer McClary and am committed to their advancement. My goals include bridging community gaps and offering support. I am dedicated to helping the elderly, veterans, and those in need of assistance. Your vote for me, Latitia Lamelle Sharp is a vote for a seasoned professional in county government, financial management, and safeguarding public funds, as I endeavor to serve as a Treasurer for all.
